Versipel New Music continues its fourth season with an evening of stunning contemporary chamber music augmented with electronics from the United States and beyond. Collectively, the pieces chosen for this program approach the use of electronics in far-ranging ways with far-reaching results – from works that immerse us in delicate ambient otherworlds, works that act as a salve, as an escape, or play upon our memories to music that throws open the gates modern peripetic life with all its chaos and violence and forces us to think and question the world we live in. Works include Paula Matthusen’s In Absentia for violin, piano, electronics and wine glasses, Mendel Lee’s fixed media work Habits of Man, Jacob TV’s I was Like Wow for trombone and video, and two works from our 2018 Call for Scores – Peter Gilbert’s The Bold Arch of Undreamt Bridges for ensemble and electronics, Daniel Harrison’s Everything is Broken, We Sing for cello and piano, and Alican Çamcı’s Landscape with Inscription for flute, violin percussion and electronics.
