Versipel on the Edge
Zeitgeist Multi-disciplinary Arts Center – April 29, 2015 at 9pm
Join us for the last concert of our debut season! Versipel New Music’s season finale features an evening of music situated on the very fringes of contemporary “classical” music. Versipel on the Edge will feature works that employ experimental graphic notation, improvisation and electronics performed by the composers and instrumentalists of the Versipel Collective. This is music that explores new ways of interfacing with performers and audience members, allowing for the spontaneous creation of sounds and textures that transcends the notation of the traditional musical score.
The program includes Christian Wolff’s 20th Century classic graphic score Edges, Toccata by Joo Won Park for found objects and live computer processing, Alan Tormey’s fixed media work Theories of Place, Indaco by Italian composer Girolamo Deraco for flute, clarinet and percussion, a video score work by Cat Hope entitled Longing and All My Dreams are Silent by Jay Batzner.
